Educator Makes Presentation About Using Textnovel.com to District Administrators

NR Riter (pen name on Textnovel.com) is an educator in a school district in New York State.  She recently made a presentation to her District Administrators on using cell phones in learning.  Many school districts ban the use of cell phones in the classroom, but NR Riter is convinced that cell phones can be a valuable tool for learning. 

NR Riter did a presentation using a variety of technologies, including www.textnovel.com.  During the presentation, NR Riter was able to make a live addition to her story “Cell Phones 4 Learning” by sending an email from her blackberry to add@textnovel.com.  NR Riter’s story is available at www.textnovel.com (see http://www.textnovel.com/stories_list_detail.php?story_id=281).

NR Riter felt like the presentation was a real success.  According to NR Riter, “My presentation regarding cell phones for learning was a BIG hit!  Textnovel played a big part in the presentation.  Thank you so much for helping me to create an awareness of the possibilities for using cell phones in schools to our district administrators.”

Way to go NR Riter!  We hope that innovative thinkers like you can make a difference in learning and incorporate cell phones into the process rather than try to exclude such an important technology.

Check out this great review of Textnovel.com on the blog www.cellphonesinlearning.com!  This awesome website is created and maintained by Liz Kolb, an adjunct professor at Madonna University and a doctoral student at the University of Michigan.  Liz is a former high school teacher and technology coordinator and thinks www.Textnovel.com can be a great tool for parents and teachers to help students explore creative writing, learn about genres or even take notes about their research process and store those on Textnovel.com.

Liz's blog is a great resource for anyone interested in the intersection of education and technology, particularly cell phones.

The Time Is Here for the Cellphone Novel! At Least that's What Educators Think.

Check out this Article on Education Week about Cellphone Novels posted on April 3, 2008.  Everybody at this conference seemed to think that this type of novel will eventually come to the U.S. and it will be a big thing.  Let's hope so!
