We are glad to have people on board and interested in helping out.

 

For Editor's Picks next time, I would like to remind you that we keep an eye out for all works on Textnovel. However, it is important that stories have 1000 words or more for it to be considered, so although we see many great stories it is sometimes unfortunate that there is not enough total words for us to make a decision! We require this because it gives us a better idea of the plot and character development and the consistency of style and quality, etc. So keep it up and keep writing!

1) We are recruiting:

    - EDITORIAL TEAM: we are looking for a few more members to join our Editorial Board. The main role would be to read stories on Textnovel with certain criteria in mind and help pick award winners such as the bi-weekly/monthly Editor's Choice, as well as other future awards. Another role would be to support the community by posting encouraging comments and feedback. Towards the future, our editorial board will also review and edit manuscripts prior to publishing processes. (If you are an editor with professional job experience, please let us know, as we would love your help - as an Editor-in-Chief perhaps)

    - FORUM MODERATORS: to keep the forums clean and alive with posts and ideas for threads, as well as encouraging members to come to the forum from the main site.

    - GENRE CAPTAINS: Receive a genre captain badge and be in charge of your genre of choice much like a book club. Interact, support, encourage fellow writers of the same genre; manage your own section in the forum with activities, fun threads, discussions and more; take care of your genre family well!

     - BLOGGING TEAM: If you have a passion for writing just about anything, let us know. We will be starting up newsletters and blogs once again soon as we are rebuilding our team. To recap, we had sections such as advice and tips for writers, life or personal stories that could inspire others, news articles about the publishing industry, interviews with published authors or textnovel members among other topics. We just ask for commitment and self-initiative to submit articles regularly (monthly or bi-weekly).

Textnovel Live Chatroom + Updates

Hi, this is Takatsu.

I started an unofficial textnovel chatroom. http://tinychat.com/textnovel 

It has optional features for live webcam and mic broadcast; desktop and whiteboard sharing tools; even a capability of watching user posted youtube content together as well (if anyone wants to use it). But in general it is a free chatroom for all of us.

Just log in with FB, Twitter, Myspace or just choose a nickname and get started.

1) Blog/Article Contributions

We are looking for dedicated writers to join our blogging team covering a range of subjects, posting on a regular basis (see below for a few examples). We also take article submissions if you are not able to officially join the team. Articles will be written on an ongoing basis (until we have a regular schedule), so please keep an eye out for posts!

Info: Pen name on Textnovel, email address, reason you are interested, qualifications/experience if any

Email Subject: Blog Article Submission
Info: Summary of your article. Attach or paste your article in the email. Make sure to include "by (pen name)".

 

Subjects:

News/Reports - The latest news and happenings around the world that have to do with writing or literature. We're especially looking for interesting and unique topics. Keep your eyes open! Anything goes -- the newest eBook readers or gadgets, rave and popular movie adaptations, etc.

Writers' Tips - Advice and passionate rants for fellow writers on various topics. What are your experiences as a writer and what are some ways to deal with problems or situations we all face?

Book Reviews/Author Interviews - An opportunity to review the latest books you've read and make recommendations to the Textnovel Community. Under this subject we will also be holding interviews or articles on authors and their work. This section is mainly for published works and authors. To recommend Textnovel stories, please head on over to the forum! Sharing Corner

Life of a Writer - From time to time we will also post about our lives, our thoughts, our feelings and what we go through as writers. A personal, passionate discussion of anything and everything. Perhaps it may serve as inspiration and support for fellow writers who face the same things.

Other - There may be more subjects that can be added as we go on. Let us know if you have any suggestions or if your article submission belongs in a different category!

2) Forum Moderators

Textnovel Forum needs help. We notice that many of our members aren't aware of the forum! It is an awesome experience to share, connect and support fellow writers on Textnovel. Textnovel isn't just a static site but a network and community as well. In order to revamp the forum and increase our activity, we are looking for Forum Moderators.

Some Responsibilities:

- Maintain, organize, enforce rules, order and structure for the forum. (You may be assigned to a certain section)

- Connect with members to get them involved in the forum. Invite and welcome new comers, be active in different threads, listen to opinions and feedback from members.

- Create new threads and innovative ideas that will boost interaction and the level of fun for all members.

- Encourage a friendly, helpful, supportive, caring atmosphere for all.

Later, possible opportunity of working with the Textnovel Team in a position similar to a "Community Leader."

3) Beta Testers

We have been working on a mobile site as you know! Things are coming together. We will need a group of users to test the mobile site and report any bugs/glitches to the Team. (Just note certain pages are not finished. Keep an eye out for actual errors/glitches that shouldn't be happening based on your best judgement.) Later on, beta testers may have the opportunity to join testing for other new projects/developments.

New Video Contest!

Create a video NO MORE THAN ONE MINUTE talking about:

1) What you like about Textnovel, what you learned, what your experience is like, etc.

2) A brief excerpt reading from one of your Textnovel stories!

3) A demonstration of how to post a story or edit a chapter online or using a phone.

Anything goes but keep it appropriate. You don't have to include yourself in the video but hopefully we will see some of our members' lovely faces too! :)

Winners get their video, profile and a story featured for free for 6 weeks!

 

How to submit:

Upload the video on Youtube or similar site. Send the link to info@textnovel.com along with your pen name. Please specify whether you would like your video posted up on our blog.
